Engineered For The Job. Not The Laundry Aisle.
Three things make Blackwater different. None of them are 'fresh linen scent'.
Built For Mess
Engineered for diesel, grease, and shop grime — not yoga pants. Petroleum-cutting surfactants, plant-derived enzymes for set-in sweat odor.
One Wash. One Cycle.
Concentrated formula cuts through embedded grime in a single load. Stop rewashing the same shirt.
Gear-Safe Formula
No bleach, no softener, no optical brighteners. Safe on FR, high-vis reflective tape, and Carhartt duck canvas.
Everything Inside The Bottle.
The technical answers you'd ask if we were standing on a job-site.
Why Blackwater?
Comprehensive. Engineered for petroleum oils, embedded grease, smoke, and set-in sweat odor.
Gear-safe. No bleach, no softener, no optical brighteners — the three things that compromise FR ratings and degrade reflective tape.
Concentrated. One cap = two cups of regular detergent. Less weight in the truck, less plastic in the trash.
Formula & Ingredients
Petroleum-cutting surfactants, plant-derived enzymes for set-in protein soils (sweat, skin oil), pH-balanced builders to lift mineral grit (concrete dust, hydraulic fluid). No dyes, no synthetic florals, no fabric softeners.
FR & High-Vis Safety
Safe on FR-rated cotton, Nomex, FR-treated knits, Carhartt duck canvas, and high-vis reflective tape. We avoid the three ingredient classes that degrade FR ratings: chlorine bleach, optical brighteners, and silicone-based softeners.
How To Use
Heavy soil: 1 capful per load (HE compatible, all washer types).
Pre-treat: For set-in stains, apply a small amount direct to the stain and wait 5 minutes before washing.
Cold water OK: Works in cold, warm, or hot — runs best with full surfactant action at warm.
Care & Storage
Store below 90°F out of direct sunlight. Shelf-stable for 24 months from manufacture date. Recyclable HDPE bottle (#2).
Sustainability
Concentrated formula means fewer trucks shipping water, less plastic per load. We're working toward refill pouches and a take-back program for empty bottles.
Any Last Questions?
How is this different from Tide, Persil, or other heavy-duty detergents?
Mainstream detergent is tuned for household soil — food, dirt, body oil. Blackwater is built for petroleum: diesel, motor oil, hydraulic fluid, machine grease, plus concrete dust, smoke, and sweat-set odor. Most 'heavy-duty' bottles on the shelf are the same suburban formula in a darker package. We started from what tradesmen actually wash off.
Is it safe on FR-rated and high-vis gear?
Yes. We leave out the three ingredient classes that compromise FR ratings and degrade reflective tape: chlorine bleach, optical brighteners, and silicone-based fabric softeners. Safe on FR cotton, Nomex, FR-treated knits, and hi-vis with reflective striping.
Important: no detergent restores or adds flame resistance. Blackwater is formulated not to damage the FR treatment already in your garment. Always follow your garment tag and employer's care requirements.
Will it actually get diesel and gas smell out?
That's the specific problem it was built for. Petroleum odor sticks because fuel bonds to fabric fibers — most detergents mask it with fragrance, so the smell returns as soon as you heat up and sweat. Blackwater's surfactants lift the petroleum out instead of covering it. For heavily contaminated gear, add the Grease & Odor Booster to the same load.
How much does it cost per wash?
About 44¢ per job-site-grade load — roughly 64 loads from a 32 oz bottle. On Subscribe & Save it drops to about 40¢. Because it's concentrated and cuts grease in one cycle, you also stop paying for the rewash.
Can I subscribe and save?
Yes. Choose Subscribe & Save on any product page — 10% off every order, delivered every 1, 2, or 3 months. Pause, skip, or cancel anytime from your account. No fees, no minimum number of orders.
Do I need the Booster and Degreaser too, or is detergent enough?
Detergent handles the everyday load on its own. Add the others when conditions call for it:
Grease & Odor Booster — in-wash additive for set-in diesel odor and embedded shop grease.
Heavy-Duty Degreaser — targeted pre-treatment for a specific baked-on stain: motor oil, tar, asphalt, chain lube.
The Workwear Kit pairs detergent and booster at a discount if you want both.
Does it work in cold water and HE machines?
Yes to both. It's HE-compatible and works in any washer — front-loader, top-loader, or an old machine in the shop. It performs in cold, warm, or hot; you'll get the fullest surfactant action on warm. One capful per load, no extra rinse cycle needed.
What if it doesn't work on my gear?
30-day money-back guarantee — full refund on your first bottle, no return shipping games. If it can't handle what you put in front of it, we'd rather hear about it than keep your money.
